I've seen a similar situation where a friend of mine had an accident involving a large truck during a storm. To keep a long story short, the truck driver basically acted very apologetically about the whole thing and made it seem as if he was at fault, but when the police arrived he was very quick to change the story. In retrospect, I later found from a very good friend who is in the trucking business that it's understandable to a certain degree, as you can lose your career in a heartbeat over even the smallest of mistakes. Talk about a low tolerance job...but rightfully so, as they command the behemoths of the highway. Sorry for your misfortune, but if the guy is lying, push it to the fullest extent. Be forewarned that other lies may surface though, as the guy may become desperate in attempting to salvage his job.
